Alliance filter globe

I have a 2011 Itasca 34Y with a Cummins ISB engine. I am looking for a place to purchase the globe that goes on the bottom of the Alliance 122-R50419 prefilter. I have not changed this filter before but it looks as if I would lose a lot less fuel (or get a lot less fuel on me) if I had a spare globe to install on the new filter before removing the old filter and globe.
Any help in locating the globe or a better way to change the filter would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob
  • A Freightliner dealer should be able to order one. You can also do some
research, I think they are made by RAYCOR. (Parker)
I have the same type filter, the Pro's disconnect the wires at the bottom, loosen the bowl just a bit ,then take off the whole thing.
    Siggy
  • Suspect you are talking about the filter bowl. Should be available most every parts house that caters to OTR trucks.

And, no, on most diesels, you can not drain the filter by just opening the drain-- unless you have a ball valve on the inlet to the filter housing.

Without a shutoff, if the level of fuel in the tank is higher than the filter base, when you open the drain, fuel will continue to run out! And, worse, if level of fuel in the tank is lower than the filter base, fuel will run from the filter housing back to the tank, leaving you with 25+ feet of AIR in the fuel line.

Yes, best to have a shutoff valve. If not, best advice is to change it quickly. Totally agree on wanting a spare bowl. Both to speed up the process and because plastic can break.
  • I purchased a new "globe" from my local truck parts supplier. The counter guy took one look at my old stained globe and handed me several new ones from which to choose. Gaskets/valves were included.
  • I think you are talking about the fuel/water separator filter. if you look on the bottom of the bowel there should be a drain valve, open it and drain the fuel before you remove the filter, if it doesn't have a drain look for plug or a removable water in fuel sensor to remove. also loosen the bowel first, then remove the filter with the bowel attached, it's easier that way instead of using two filter wrenches to separate them after the filter is off
    hope this helps
