Almost 20 years with a TT, now have a Class C

Hey all. We bought a new TT last summer to replace an older TT that we traveled all over with (Yellowstone, Florida, Colorado, etc). The new TT was great...but for various reasons including changing things up a bit, we sold it.

This weekend, after some time looking and pondering, we purchased a 2019 Jayco Redhawk 29XK Class C. We pick it up next weekend and are excited to plan next summer's activities and trips with the new C. Of course, we plan on some local state park camping this year to break it in.

We are a few years yet from retirement, maximum 8 years but hopefully less. This purchase was coming...later on...but we moved it up. Why not.

  • Congrats on the new C. When we upgraded to our Class C, both the DW and the kids loved the fact that they could walk back and lay on the bed, use the bathroom, etc. Changed the whole outlook of the travel.
  • Yeah, I'll follow up on the 1st trip! We are already planning on Bigfoot auto level/stabilizers. The E-450 chassis is set up for it. Hope to have those in around month of October, but will be camping before then.

Our big trip in 2019 (usually a 2 or 3 week adventure) is looking like Glacier NP and Yellowstone NP. I know Fishing Bridge is closed in YNP for '19. It will be our 2nd YNP trip and 1st for Glacier. We also do about 4 to 6 weekend local trips. Wish it was more but we will see.

We do go to Wildlife Prairie Park here in Peoria few times a year...no camping there...but I can see driving the C and having the picnic inside and/or using the appliances/potty. Will be fun no matter!
  • I swore I would never own a motorhome as I thought they were extravagant and restrictive, so we went the TT to many 5th wheels up to 31'. Last year, we looked at Class C's on a whim, and ended up getting a MBS Sprinter. Oddly enough, I am really pleased with the unit and have to change my opinion on Class C's. We do a lot of traveling and are getting ready for a 5 week trip this weekend. we do tow a Jeep JK and that works out well, as a lot of places we go, the roads would not be kind to a MH. Enjoy the rig and congrats to you,
  • How about a follow up after your first trip ! What was good, what bad, what was just "different" !
  • We went from a 5th wheel to a smaller Class C-10+ years with 5'vr. So much easier setting it up-10 to 15 minutes. Over a period of years we had accumulated so much stuff for camping-boondocking or full hook-ups-that we definitely had to down size for the smaller camper/less storage. Good part is now my D.W. can and wants to drive. If we are set up in a campground and need to get somewhere, have been using "Uber" which has worked great, plus the drivers are local and know best places to go. Lars
  • Congrats on your new RV!

I went from a TT to a Class C too except I only lasted a few months with the TT. All the work IMHO with a TT defeated the purpose that RV'ing should be relaxing!

The first time you pull into a CG and realize all you have to do is:
Pull in, put it in park, and open a cold one.....you'll wonder why you waited so long to get a MH. :C

Good move. Use it now, you don't know what life will hand you tomorrow.

    Congrats and enjoy your travels.
