Typical water heater issue that have check valve in hot outlet.
They fail, get clogged etc.
They are installed to stop water from flowing backwards into water heater when it is bypassed VS installing another shut off valve in hot line.
Disconnect hot outlet then remove nipple (check valve) screwed into tank.
Install one of your new ones...........
OR go buy another 1/2" shut off valve and install it in the hot line. Then remove the internals on new check valve and screw the empty body (nipple) into tank and connect hot line back up
No more check valve to mess up later on.
A shut off valve to isolate WH when winterizing OR IF needing to work on it w/o water in it.
