Am I going to regret going C

We have a 20 year old Damon Daybreak class A that has served us well, but is now reaching that point where repairs are becoming more costly and it's time to start shopping. Yay!

The Damon has no slides, so I definitely want more space this time around. Budget wise, C looks like the best option for now and we've found a couple of floor plans we love. Plus, I think I'll like the safety aspects of the C more than the A. (Airbags and a better constructed cab feel better to me than the open A.)Outside storage has been the only issue, but we've found two plans that almost make that a neutral, but with big gains on the inside over what we have.

We've test driven a few and feel like the handling is going to be fine, although different from the A. Not necessarily better or worse, just different.

But the feeling I can't shake is that somehow I'm going to regret going C. I wonder if, after a while, it will feel like we've downgraded? (Although, with the age and lack of amenities on the Damon, almost anything is going to feel like an upgrade, at least for a while.)

Has anyone gone from A to C and regretted it? Did you somehow feel like you went backwards?
  • You'll get buyer's remoarse if your rig does not have enough OCCC in it. C's can run porky relative to their A counterparts. Watch your weights and choose accordingly.
  • Look for one with two slides. I have a Fleetwood Tioga 31M on a Ford chassis. It would be better if it has a V-10, e450.

WE do not feel we've 'downgraded' to anything owning a Class C. :W
  • Well I think it depends on what you do with it. Do you spend a lot of time traveling and visiting different places . Hopping of major roads to visit things on a whim then I would go class c. If travel mostly from point a to point b and stay awhile on major roads then I would go class a. I have meet many people in class c's in rv parks that used to own class a's or big 5th wheels and didn't like the smaller living area, however for travel they loved it.
  • Check the mileage of the rig you are looking at and compare with a new smaller Class A. Class C's are VERY expensive for the living space IMHO.
