In the past, this has worked for me just fine. The only item needed for ease of this system is a passive switch-box...not an expensive item.

I guess that would work fine if you wanted to pay for satellite
and/or only camp in urban areas that are close enough to cities to receive local broadcast TV.
Most places we camp there is no chance for broadcast TV, the closest stations have at least one mountain range between us and them, a common situation in the west.
