You definitely covered the pros and cons of each. I think your deciding factor will be if you want to be mobile with a truck, potential for a daily driver, and park the camper. Or discipline yourself to pack everything so you never have to break camp and limit the campers use to a few times a year. Comfort vs Cost, Space vs usability??
Let me ask you this .... If you had no kids, nada, none! which would YOU choose? Let that be your deciding factor. The kids will go along for the "ride" no matter what you choose. Get what works best for YOU! (Also more important, whatever opinion your wife has ... do it and save yourself the agony!)
