I went from a large SUV and a large TT to a large 5'er. While the 5'er has been great. We miss the passenger space of the Ford Excursion.
As others have mentioned give some consideration to a 1 ton van and travel trailer combo. There are several bunkhouse TT floorplans that rival 5'ers in space and amenities.
While the motor home can be done, the toad issue becomes a bit problematic.
Toads are generally smaller cars. How well does your family fit in a small car?
A van bunkhouse combo is the most practical solution financially and logistically.
You are doing well to think this totally through including towing capacity of class A and size and weight of toad.
