Don't feel bad, it happened to me too last year. On our previous 2008 coach, I never damaged the antenna. Our new coach shows a message on the dash that the antenna is up (but you have to read the warning!).
I hit a utility wire at a RV Park and it snapped the bat wing from the arm, everything stayed on the roof. My antenna could not be repaired and it was replaced with a new one for about $150. I thought that was not too bad. Now, I velcro multi-colored strips on my steering wheel depending on what needs to be..... put away, lowered, removed, etc.
