It hasn't been said yet so I will say it. I would highly recommend you rent an RV (or two or three) first before you commit to the financial plunge.
Thanks for the good advice.
Welcome! We chose a motor home out of shear envy of other people being able to just stop anywhere and go in the back to sleep or eat. We did a couple of tours of MHs owned by friends to get a better idea of what we liked.
LOL on the envy. :) It seems like I have a good number or relatives who do the snowbird thing for at least six months of the year. Must run in the family blood. I've been talking to them for over 20 years, checking out their rigs, hearing about their travels and their pitfalls... and now I'm ready to follow them.
For example, you reported that you are currently in Minn., which means you would have to winterize the RV. Additionally, if your RV has a generator, most need to be "exercised" monthly.
Thank you for the good advice. These are two things I didn't even think about until I started visiting these very helpful forums.
Do not get emotionally attached to an RV and base a buying decision on it.
Excellent advice (not just for motorhomes, but also in general).
Right now I'm looking to spend about six months shopping -- but if it takes longer, it takes longer. :)
Thanks all for the good advice and the warm welcomes. I'm going to enjoy spending more time on this forum. :)
Cheers,
Rebecca
