Sorry I didn't clarify....it wasn't the same dually...it was on the same side, but not the same tire position. This time was the outside tire. The first blowout I accept as likely being my fault. It was the same tires that were on it when we bought the coach used. We were told the tires were only a couple of years old and I did not check the date codes. Turns out they were 10 years old. We replaced all of them with brand new tires...with good date codes.
On the first one, we had no indication anything was wrong until it blew. The coach was riding/handling great, no smell, nothing...just BAM! This one, like I said earlier, we started smelling hot rubber and thought it was the truck ahead of us, but being gun shy from the first blowout we pulled off the interstate to check. All pressures were good and the tires didn't even feel beyond warm...much less hot. In fact, the tire that came apart this time didn't lose air pressure...the tread just came off.
And yes, I have the tire and part of the tread that we could find on the side of the highway. We have called Goodyear and initiated a claim, so hopefully they'll make it good....now, I just gotta find somewhere to repair my gas-filler neck that the blown tire mangled. Can't even put gas in the coach to make it home right now.
