The small Haier unit I installed has coils on the rear but no cooling fan. Since hot air rises, I get air circulation from below (drilled some holes in board over furnace) and the hot air exits in the small gap above the refrigerator.
I sealed the overhead vent. The side vent I partially sealed with a section of foam board. I wanted access in case I need to remove the bolts holding the refrigerator down, but still wanted to block as much air as possible.
