First time poster here, I have lurked and read so much on the w.h. brake problem that I think I have overloaded my brain! 2007 Monaco Monarch, 8.1 chevy 6 speed Allison with 27k miles. 2 years ago in Colorado springs the rear breaks would not release, causing over heating. Made it to springs auto and truck service, great people got us in and did a brake fluid flush. Last fall 5 miles from home I notice the rv didn't want to pull out at a stop light, this time the front brakes were dragging. Go back home bleed brakes, good to go. Last weekend maybe 30 miles from home, noticed it again, this time driver front dragging, after no hard braking! So 4 quarts of fluid and a complete flush I am ready again, but no both front this time. I have removed the caliper on the passenger front, it has the steel pistons, all this reading I have done made me believe the phenolic pistons were the problem. I am heading out west in 3 weeks, I hate to just throw parts at it, but that's where some advice is needed. I am a capable mechanic and have several friends in the parts business so I can get what I need at good prices. THANKS, Jeff

WORKHORSE HAD A RECALL ON CALIPERS DID YOU HAVE IT DONE

Check first to see if the recall work has been performed. Reeder Truck and RV Center, in Knoxville, TN is well known for being able to deal with Workhorse brake issues. If you have had the recall done, and the new calipers installed, then perhaps your problem is that the caliper slide surfaces are not properly lubricated which allows the caliper to slide easily.

I forgot to add, my vin# does not qualify for the recall.

strange that my 2007 Fleetwood bounder 8.1 w22 was under recall

All of the Monaco Monarchs were built on the W22 22,000 chassis which did not use the same Bosch calipers that we covered by the recall of the W20 models. You need to look for things that can be preventing your calipers from sliding properly, like a lack of lubrication or excessive rust on the components.

Digit place "6" from the beginning of the vin is the chassis designator.
6 = W20/w22
A = W24.

Post your VIN and I can tell you which chassis you have and whether or not it is part of the recall.
The calipers will not have Bosch on them anywhere.

Sounds like a master cylinder problem. But how can that do one whee at a time? front to back yes, but 1?

I ran my vin and called workhorse both. The calipers don't have Bosch anywhere on them so I don't think they are Bosch.

Maybe you have a W24 chassis. I believe they were never in the Bosch recall because they use different calipers. I don't know if the Workhorse website is still working, but if it is you can input your vin# there and find out what chassis you have. Or maybe a call to a Workhorse service center is an easier way.

Since the OP said that his VIN was not included in the recall he must have the heavier 22,000 chassis rather than the lighter 20,700 chassis that is covered by the recall OR his chassis was manufactured after the recall inclusion date.
