It is what it is. Nice warning for someone just getting into this. Sure, their mileage may vary. But, good info none the less.
Maybe a nice warning on how not to do it. If the cost of owning a DP was a genuine concern to the OP, then he would have taken steps to reduce the costs, which most posters agree were way high. Instead, he chose to pay top dollar for simple maintenance items and repairs that could have been done by him or at a more reasonable cost, then comes on here scare-mongering about the cost of owning a DP. Talk about killing the dream.
I can assure you that my cost of ownership will be about 1/4th of his. Your mileage may vary.
