All good points. Yes, we like small items (postcards, ephemera, glass, deco and midcentury decorative items, all of which fit in boxes). Furniture is further down the list in our interests, but always possible, especially Danish midcentury modern. Excellent advice to buy the furniture on the way home.
Fortunate possibility once I get the RV home and take a look, is to have a piece of furniture between the two back twin beds, and sleep on the couch upfront. At the expense of not having an indoor shower or any bathroom other than a curtained toilet, our small Class B RV will sleep 4, leaving storage in the back an option. It will be a learning process for certain. I figured we could also buy locally and use the RV to haul a piece of furniture home or to a show; we have a Caravan minivan for that as well, but have to unload and get the seats out for that.
Thanks for the trailer ideas. I had given that a quick thought, but now I realize, I could buy a small trailer rather than rent. I will look into that, it's been many years since I worked with trailers, but I was excited to learn that I had the towing package and wiring all ready to go.
Agreed, while photos always make Class B spaces look larger than expected, standing in them reveals more of the challenges in transporting antiques, but we can definitely make that work in small quantities for boxed items. We would have done well in the dust bowl era heading to California, we are used to traveling with everything but the kitchen sink with us (I once bought a small deco chandelier and a set of glass dishes in England and flew them home in my luggage), and now with the RV, we'll even have that sink!
