any idea of the cause / repair of these wall "bumps"

. in the bathroom over the sink, which is the outside back wall, we started last year to get these small pointy "bumps" in the wall, and it seems to be getting worse... Any ideas on what could be...

Mines had a similar pattern above the shower. No mold in my case was a crystalline reaction with the glue used to adhised the vinyl to the ceiling aluminum air duct. Sanded it, spread it over with vinyl grout then painted and looks great after three years.
