I couldn't find it, but a former moderator named Bill (handle = westronics) modified his JAYCO 24SS to go from one 12V battery to two 6V's. He got a Kwikee sliding tray and cut the lower coach wall for a new door that cleared the new tray. I don't remember where he got a new access door. JAYCO might carry a replacement door/frame assembly that fits. This would only work if there's "dead" space next to the existing compartment, to one side or the other. Or both, I suppose. Bill had that 24SS pretty tricked out, and all his work was craftsman like.
