Having a Smaller (21 foot) Chevy G-30 Class C RV with a 4 wheel drive conversion, I certainly can understand the desire to go where others wont or can't go. A new world of RVing will open up to you.
My next question is, how attached are you to your trailer as it sits now? Would you be open to using the trailer as a donor source to make the Van camper renovation cost effective?
I had a friend who outfitted his off road RV van using parts from a used travel trailer be bought for about $1,500 from a dealer who made sure everything worked. A/C, furnace, water heater, water, pump, tank, kitchen sink stove top, vent fans, bath sink and toilet, propane bottle system, small refrigerator, jack knife sofa. brackets, trims, cabinets, lights, wood framing, windows......etc, etc. That's a lot of costly usable material for a small price.
