I once ran out of diesel sitting at the pumps waiting for a woman to get her PU out of the way. Had no clue what to due. A trucker came over and took the air cleaner loose, sprayed WD 40 in there. It started and he kept spraying until it picked up fuel and ran on its own. A few years later ran the farm tractor out of diesel and did the same thing and it started and ran fine. Was told not to use starting fluid.
