Anyone interested in 83 Pace Arrow Tear down and Rebuild?

Whatever grade you call that plywood, it's still going to look like you built plywood fronts surrounded by real wood trim. I know practical is more important to you than attractive, but a wood veneer would really dress up the fronts.

I kind of like the idea of a surface mount strip with the inside edge cut on a bevel. Then add zigzagrv's idea of a panel under the pull. Would give a very nice contrast and depth.

I pulled the clamps off today, and trimmed all the back sides the trim I just glued on. I may have to trim the fronts of the trim I put on there. I just haven't decided yet, but it's starting to look like that.

These drawers are also waiting for the glue to dry. Once it does, which will be tomorrow, I can pull the clamps off and proceed to trim the walnut.







There we go. These are all of them, except for the one on the bench, which is in the first picture.

Good thing, because I am running out of clamps. Lol.

Wahoo! More work done.

In this pic, I cut some black walnut strips just a little over length, which is shown by the blue arrow, and then proceeded to glue them to the sides of the drawers to cover up the plywood plies.







As the red arrow shows, I had to cut some plywood pieces to be able to clamp the thin walnut to the drawer sides, until dry.

Here's a set of drawers, with a little trim added to the front, around the edges, to make it look a little "classier".

This is more of what I was trying to get across, but didn't do a very good job of getting it accomplished.







After 4 years, you would think I could do a little better, wouldn't ya? Lol...

Here's a box with a flat front, with just a little bit of trim in the front, which adds to the overall appearance.

Here is a drawing of what a little bit of trim can do for a door. It's a flat door with just a little bit of trim.

I'm going to break from the pack here and suggest putting the black walnut on top and adding a piece to the center of the drawer where the pulls will be creating a sort of bas-relief look. Would give it a bit more character. Simply rounding the edge of the trim would eliminate the chance of catching something on it. JMHO

But honestly, I think it'd look pretty amateur and tacky if you just stuck it on the surface and left it. Not to mention all the cr*p that would get caught on the ledge where it sticks out.

As unconventional as everything else you've done at least it appears to be quality work. Just tacking that on the front would not be considered quality IMO.

Some days I amaze myself. I post something which looks fine at the time, and when reading it the next day, I think "what was I thinking"? Lol.

The picture I had of the trim on the front, with the edge sticking out, was not intended to be what it will look like when finished.

Let me try again. Hopefully, it will make more sense.
