- Obviously, the first attempt at drilling this, failed. The bit would keep slipping off, and not a big surprise.
Btw, the screw head that looks like it is in the way --- it isn't. The screw is on the wall, about 8 or 9 inches away.
- First step is to mark the area that needs to be removed.

Next I pulled out my 1" Forstner bit.
- In case you missed it, this is the hole in the back of the stove that is for the gas line, and is mostly blocked by the counter top.
Mostly blocked by the plywood, and just a touch by the black walnut.

I would have went with stainless for the counter trim. Aluminum scratches easily and oxidizes rapidly. For the small amount that you would need, stainless would not have cost THAT much more. Just my opinion, it's your rig.
It will be hidden anyhow, so it won't really matter. I just wanted something sturdy to secure that corner of the counter. When I put face frames on the bottom cabinet ... poof ... no aluminum seen. Wahoo.- STBRetiredExplorerI would have went with stainless for the counter trim. Aluminum scratches easily and oxidizes rapidly. Spent $100 on the Aluminum angle, so I need to add that to the spreadsheet.
Prior total of $9670.00, adding $100, for a new total of $9772.00
Also, when I glued the counter tops down, I went to Lowes and picked up 4 extra tubes of Loctite adhesive, to make sure I didn't run out, that I need to add to the spreadsheet. Those cost me an additional $21.12.
That brings our total up to $9793.12.
If you stared with $9670.00 and added $121.12, you total should be $9791.12. No sense making it worse than it is. ;)
Evidently, I need a new keyboard. Mine isn't typing what I want it to.
Actually, the $9670.00 is wrong. $9672.00 is correct. Somehow, between my brain, my fingers, and the keyboard, is came out at 70 instead of 72.
Nice catch though!- BobGedExplorer
