i have two of them installed for the last year and they just sit there and run. They also have some algorithm that compares CO vs. Smoke content in the air and adjusts the alarm level accordingly. Hopefully that will help eliminate false positives from the kitchen. I also have a separate Cao detector with an LCD PPM display on it that's good to glance at when running the generator on still air nights.
