Please don't anyone apologize for me on this thread...here's my take on this discussion:
The OP bought a 40' Country Coach...he decided he knew more than any of the engineers that designed it, so he MODIFIED his rig. Then he took it out on the open road to TEST his theories. When he almost rolled his rig, he came on here looking for someone to agree with him that motor homes are dangerous. He then posts an "incident" but doesn't state how he came about knowing all the intricate details of that "incident" but somehow determined the tire blew because of a faulty ride height valve that the mfg put on the coach to make it dangerous. Oh! and he's been a mechanic for almost 40 years!
Later on, in his same posting he comes up with what sounds like a semi professional answer to why his coach did what it did. Yes, IMHO, that's a TROLL.
Regardless, the only common sense answer to his question is simple:
NO air suspension coaches are NOT dangerous. The person DRIVING it MAY be. In all his examples there's ONE COMMON flaw, and that is SPEED. Driving TOO FAST for current conditions. My coach has the three valve system, with 10 outboard air bags. I have never experienced what he has described, but then I drive it like a 45' Motor Home, not like I did my 930 Porsche! Approaching a curve, I slow down, getting off the freeway, I slow down.
In his example:
What was the age of the tire that blew?
What was the weight of the coach? Four corners?
What was the speed of the coach at the time the tire blew?
Had the tire ever been mistreated? Curb strike? Pot holes?
Had he MODIFIED his air suspension as you have?
To simply blame a ride height valve and call all air suspension coaches dangerous because someone took an off ramp at too great a speed and had a blow out is a pretty far stretch for anyone's imagination, including mine....Dennis
