I am a woman that travels with her disabled daughter. Since she isn't an outside person generally at first all people see is me. My motorhome is a 92 American Eagle, with a 2013 Cadillac SRX for a toad. When I had a newer shorter gasser guys wanted to help me set it up, not sure why. But generally if wives came out they quickly disappeared, I chuckled at that one. I'm not young, will be 69 soon. I don't see anyone wanting to associate with me really. I don't blame it on my DD at all, its just couples don't want to associate with women traveling alone, and yes, I'm married but he works overseas and is never home. When he is he sure doesn't want to travel. DD and I run around a lot, we don't sit outside a lot as by the time we get home we are pooped. We are going to Florida this winter for part of it, likely to Houston also, thinking about visiting some of my docs down there. I too notice that many with the big expensive motorhomes don't associate except with others who have big expensive motorhomes. But isn't it that way everywhere? People of similar backgrounds live in the same neighborhoods, people of similar backgrounds belong to the same organizations. I guess we think by all owning motorhomes, TT's, or whatever it equalizes us all but it doesn't. We all carry our same divisions and ideas with us just like we do in other areas of our lives
I think most people feel comfortable around those like themselves. I also agree that some that get the really expensive homes are older and maybe not able to do as much or have no desire to be out and about running around. Or maybe they have been there several times and seen all the sights.
I will sit outside and read some, if my DD would I would be out bikeriding, walking,etc but many times she wants to just stay inside and play on her computer. This winter I'm going to try and get her out more and about.
But all of you enjoy what you want to do, associate or not associate doesn't matter to me. Just enjoy yourselves in your own way. If you speak to me I will speak back, if you want to chat I will chat. I won't impose myself on you and will call people if I need repairs or help, you don't have to worry about helping me. But if I can help you in any way I will. Life is good and I feel fortunate enough to be able to enjoy myself in my much older motorhome, all of you enjoy what you have too.
