We will be traveling south from Adairsville Ga To east of Atlanta ,is there a by-pass to get around Atlanta traffic-And I am not headed to savanaugh so I don't want I-75 I want I-20 toward Augusta GA ...

Sometimes going downtown >10am and popping out I-20 can be good but the I-75 / I-85 "connector" can start backing up early afternoon (>2pm). If you go that route start getting over when you see Edgewood and Capitol Ave. I-20 E & W share the same exit. Stay in the left lane of the exit for I-20 E.
I-285 shouldn't be bad until . . . . hmmm, same 2pm where it might get a little backed up at I-85.
After 3pm you're hosed everywhere.
Been there, did that for 19 years.
