August 21st 2017 Total Solar Eclipse DON'T MISS IT!

If this isn't coming over your house, plan a trip! August 21st 2017 Total Eclipse of the sun!
Map: http://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/details.cgi?aid=4314

YOU CAN'T MISS IT!!!!!!!!!!!
ONCE IN A LIFETIME!!!!!!!!!
YOU'LL WANT TO BE SOMEPLACE DARK!

Here's a video of what you'll see IF the skys are clear:

Here's an animation of where it will get dark as it moves across the USA:

If you're not in the direct path, you'll only see a "bite" get taken from the sun. The closer you are to the middle of the path, the longer it will stay dark. Somewhere around two minutes or so. You will need special glasses to watch it "eat away" at the sun. When it covers the sun you can take the glasses off and see the "ring" but be ready to put them back on quickly.
  • I saw one in the early 70's when I lived in east Africa. It's very creepy to see the sun disappear in the middle of the day. Makes the wildlife uneasy but way cool to witness. I'll have the good fortune to see two, God willing!

That's what I use my smart phone for so I'm redirecting those unused brain cells for other purposes now.
  • The OP must be a fan of the APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day) like I am! I don't understand about 25 percent of what is shown and explained but dang! this is such a great site.
  • COOL We are in Boise Idaho just a few miles south of total eclipse we are going to make reservations at a campground just north of us so we can spend the day watching this event.
