Overall the units they use are pretty good, taking into consideration that they as a Class C were designed as Vans or Light Trucks initially.
Most people here would here would drive them on the bitumen with some Off Road dirt use. You cannot get away from that in Australia if you want to explore the Country.
If you really want to go Off Road use this type of Motorhome

You can take them anywhere, even outside Australia.

  • Robert,

I know most folks would pay no attention to, or even think important, these couple of things I consider to be possible red flags in the videos:

    1) Most of those motorhomes in the videos seem to be awfully low to the ground - at least the outer body panels are. More overall body ground clearance could prevent damage in certain otherwise benign offroad situations.

    2) Most of the full width motorhomes in the videos seem to show a lot of inset from the motorhome's wall of the outermost rear wheel (whether it be a SRW or DRW setup). This indicates they're built on the typical narrow frame truck seen so much outside of the U.S.. A wider outer rear wheel track on some of them so as to move the rear wheel right out to the coach walls would provide more lateral stability to the vehicle.

Otherwise .... some beautiful rigs there!!
