Aux generator on 1989 Winnebago Warrior

My aux generator on my 1989 Winnebago Warrior starts, but will not keep running (light does not turn green). Any ideas out there that can help me fix the problem? My aux generator is an Onan BGE/BGEL Emerald I Genset.

  • Thanks for your info. 1 - The Winnebago gas tank is full.
2 - House batteries are fully charged.
3 - Oil was changed about one month ago, and on full mark.

A friend of mine suggested that it might not keep running if the oil pressure switch is not working.
    Any thoughts on that?

    Thanks
  • #1 question how much gas is in the RV tank

won't run if tank is below 1/4

#2 question status of your 'house' batteries
IF discharged, genset might not stay running

is battery disconnect on or off, your converter suplies the power for the batteries and the genset ignition
most Onan's no longer have their own 12v power circuit

#3 LOW oil in genset will cause this

these conditions don't care what model# the genset is

except that old 70's models have their own 12v power
  • Anyone know where I can get an emerald genset aux generator for my 1989 Winnebago warrior? Nobody seems to know how to fix the one that I have.
  • I fixed the problem on my 1989 Winnebago Warrior aux generator not running. I changed the air filter (old one was caked and looked like the original one) and it started and ran fine. Time to hit the open road!
  • Make? Model? Serial Number? Without those, any responders will be "less than guessing!"
