Awning put up in wind

A guy pulls in with a TT and sets up across from us. He puts his awning out while the wind is blowing 25 MPH gusts and drives off. Would it be rude if I filmed it blowing off the trailer? The dashcam is pointed right at it. If he hadn't put it out in such a windstorm, I'd roll it up for him.

So far it's still there. It's not electric so there will be no automatic retracting. Getting dark so we'll see in the morning.

Hosting summer before last (2015) our awning was up for Four months straight 24/7, only took down one day, due to forecast high winds, should have left it up never got very strong! This was the OEM awning on our 2005 Copper Caynon. Yes the wind blew a lot.
  • I stayed at the RV Park in Pacifica that is right on top of the cliff overlooking the ocean. It was a nice sunny day and I assume a lot of the other RVer's were in San Francisco for the day. I was in the RV and had not put my awning out, and I guess what would be called a "microburst" came along up the cliff from the ocean. I don't know what the wind speeds were, but it shook my motorhome pretty good. Basically came out of no where, lasted about 45 seconds at the most, and then the wind calmed back down to a slight breeze. I walked around the park afterwards and saw at least 10 awnings damaged. Later that evening when people were getting back and trying to figure out what happened, I walked around the park again and told a few of them what happened.

I don't know if it was necessarily the speed of the wind that did the damages, versus the fact that is was swirling as it came through and I assume had a strong updraft to it. I never left my awning out again after seeing that. But that is the advantage to an electric awning as you can put it in or out in under a minute.

I would have rolled it up and if he said anything would have told him rig was rocking from the wind and just trying to save his awning for him. Would want some one to do it for me.

Normally I would have but when he put it up with the wind blowing like it was, he must have wanted it out in a windstorm.

    PS: It survived.

That might work where you are, but it wouldn't last the weekend where we go on the plains.

Figured it would. As I say. they will take a lot more than folks on here give them credit for. We put ours out when we set up, and take it down when we go home. Have yet to lose one in 17 years. Did have one to fall, but it was one of those you hook to a OLD popup, and just sat there. No bracing
