Eleven years ago when we ordered our motor home, I specifically requested to include the ladder and roof rack, but placed "inside" the motor home in pieces....NOT installed. I really didn't like having them for a number of reasons from mechanical, to water infiltration, to cosmetic. But I still wanted them around just in case I changed my mind. Eleven years so far and they just take up space in our storage room downstairs.
When I need to get up on the roof at home, I just use our free-standing step ladder. On trips...so far so good, not yet had a need to get up there. The only critical reason to have them is if a tree branch gets caught on something on the roof, but being the case, a tree branch would most likely get caught on the roof rack or ladder that I don't have as shown. So I vote for removing the ladder and any roof rack you might have and seal the mounting holes with caulk. If you have a place to store a telescoping ladder in your rig, that seems reasonable.
