Grandpa needs your help, (sorry 4 the long mail)Just few weeks ego got my new Winnebago Class "A" Coach, just noted that it came without the back tires mud protection flops (where I do buy them, how important and coastally they are?, will pull 2014 Jeep "Summit") I am new to the class "A" MH, just FYI...few years back bought a 17' RV trailer...one trip - mistake, traded 4 a class "C" RV, even bigger mistake, so hopefully... this is the 3rd time charm (can't afford to lose more $$$)......my wife and I are retires, so, if health permits, we will continue our yearly trips from southern Cali to visit our daughter and son who are both resides in the Denver, CO area, so any advise from you good folks about the Class "A" MH, like winter storage, etc. etc..(we do live at a elevation about 5k high and on some occasions there is some frost and snow), also for about a 6 months or so I will park the MH on a flat, but 3/4" gravel area, how about the tires, please help, will follow your expertise and advice to the fullest.Hopefully I express my needs kind of clearly...Thanks a bunch/Gary

I am certain it has mud flaps behind the wheels just inside the well. If you are talking about the skirts that attach to the rear of the MH, you'll find differing opinions. Some say they protect the tow vehicle while others will tell you they actually kick up more rocks making the issue worse.

Gary, We are considering the same thing and have just started looking. It would seem it isn't as simple as buying something online and attaching them behind the wheels with screws. I'm still researching. Chuck

I have seen no damage to my towed because of the rear flap. Mine weighs a ton.

My coach came with mud flaps (behind the rear wheels) and I added one of those side to side one piece (rock guard, big mud flap, whatever) from Camping World. Had them AND installation on sale. I think under 100 bucks. Check their catalog or visit one of their stores.

I'll just add that if your sewage compartment is behind the real wheels and you have mud flaps + blown tire......the mud flap becomes a projectile into your sewage bay. Been there done that. $$$ to repair damage.

Ran over a 4x4 post this summer, the rear tire tossed it good. Bent the heck out of my mud flap ( hanging long flap, skirt) and shot it out the side. If it wasn't there it would have gone through the back of my MH or the front of my toad. Can't even imagine the damage it would have caused.

I swear by it and it will always be a option included on ours.

Class A gas RV. No flaps either factory or owner installed. I have towed our car over 10,000 miles without so much as a scratch. It does get filthy being towed in the rain but it does wash off.

I guess we need some clarification. I took it that the OP was asking about mud flaps directly behind the tires and not the rock guard skirt across the rear end of the coach. Chuck
