I can not believe what Im reading,Ive driven truck for over 35 yrs, semi and doubles,Iv done my share of backing them up.BUT I would just take the time to not get in a spot to where I have to back up.Only someone who's not paying attention does that.Plus Ive never had help backing up,if I can't see I get out and look myself. ( Retired and loving it )
I do my best not to get into a position where I have to back up, but I've managed to do it three times. The first time I tried backing with the Jeep Wrangler hooked up. The wheels immediately slammed to one side and start skidding sideways. The next two times I did it, I blocked traffic and got out and un-hooked the toad.
Now this subject has some up here before and it does appear the Jeep Wrangler is probably one of the worst toads to try and back. Everybody who has told a story of doing it says the wheels slam immediately over. I have heard stories of other vehicles where the wheels don't slam over. But there have been two stories posted on here that I remember of the wife having broken wrists from doing this. I don't recall the type of vehicle in those stories.
