I haven't heard of any rules against them. I agree, they can be annoying - especially late at night when the other folks in the campground/park are trying to sleep. Maybe you could install an on-off switch for it, so you can choose to turn it off when the circumstances don't require it.
Also, remember a beeper won't tell you there's a tree stump behind your rig, etc.
