Bad repairs
Please allow me to ventilate. I'm somewhat freaked out.
We went to a shop last week to have the cracked Cummins exhaust manifold replaced. I could clearly see the crack, no doubt.
The tech broke only one bolt which is amazing on this 23-year-old engine. But that's not the point.
I asked him to check out all the soot on the exhaust brake housing and he found that someone had simply welded/repaired the brake adaptor tube to a backing tube and had _turned it around_ and _stuck it into_ the exhaust brake housing. No clamp, no bolts, no nothing.
That explains a few things!
