I talked to a trucker and he said the only time he turns the engine off is when he's having it serviced. Truckers idle them over night all the time. What's the difference?? Thanks
Brian
No difference-- it is not good for their engines either.
If big rig's do it, it must be OK. Yep.... Just do what they do and you will be OK. Almost as bad as "low information voters"
On a serious note. My owners manual states for cab & chassis models: Under no circumstances should oil change intervals exceed 15,000 miles or six months or 500 Hours, whichever comes first. If using B20 fuel change every 12,500 miles, 6 months or 400 hours.
Do any of these people who follow 18 wheeler practices know how they maintain their 18 wheel rigs? How often do they change oil? I suspect most personal diesel owners don't keep track of hours. I don't even know if 18 wheel rigs keep track of hours. Most keep track of miles on each axle. According to the 2014 Ram 5500 owners manual if you run your diesel engine 24/7 the oil would need to be changed every 20 day's.
