I would hesitate about using any suction cup grab bars. There give no warning to predict when they will fail. They would just suddenly come off of the wall and leave the person depending on them for support, with nothing.
To me it is not worth risking a serious injury to try to find some alternative to doing the job right in the first place and finding a solid mechanical attachment.
Either use a stool or find some way to attach a grab bar properly to the shower wall.
