When batteries go bad due to age/end of life cycle they can be overcharged by any charger.
So many times on this site I see people complain about battieries boiling and first thing to blame is the charger when it is usually bad batteries.
I go with an earlier poster: use a good 3-stage charger and maintain your water. Tray corrosion is a sign of neglect.
