Bay door lock failure Monaco

Sorry guys, I'm back. Thought I'd tackle the bay door problem once again. Went thru my wiring book to no avail. Tried all the trouble shooting until I got tired and hot. Everything checked out ok but they still don't work. For those who do not know, the bay door locks on the driver's side only have decided to fail. Earlier someone mentioned solenoids. I know there is a solenoid that locks each side and one that unlocks each side. Using old school math tells me that should mean four solenoids in total. That said, I have no idea where those solenoids might be located. Anybody able to steer me in the right direction? TIA....BTW, the passenger side works with the key fob and the keypad. The driver's side doesn't work at all. I had trouble believing two solenoids would fail at the same time but.......Dennis

  • * Artum Snowbird - thanks for the link. I tried searching Monaco forums yesterday at iRV.net to no avail.
    * Twomed - yes, both fuses were checked with a meter. They're good.
    * tyyoungs - will do today.
    * dougrainer - thanks for that info. Any idea where those relays may be? That was my thought too only I assumed they had solenoids for each side.

BTW - I can lock/unlock all doors with the key.
  • There are NO solenoids. They are standard Door lock 12 volt MOTORS. 1 per door lock. Usually on all brand motorhomes, there is a relay at the keyless door control module for EACH side. So, the relay for THAT side is inop. Maybe just has a wire unplugged. Doug
  • Did you check the fuse for that side? Usually when one side goes completely it's a fuse. If fuse blows probably a bad actuator. Unplug one at a time to find the bad one. Universal door lock actuator on ebay about $5.

Fuses in FRB marked PS ACT and DS ACT.

    Good Luck
  • Dennis, call Elkhart Sales and Service and ask to speak to Tom Bumpus - he was Monaco/Holiday Ramblers factory tech that went around the country helping solve "electrical" issues. He is now manager for ES&S and might be able to point you in the right direction to address your problem.

Here is a link to the web-site ES&S
  • On most Monaco's you undo the screws for the inner door panel to access the solenoid. They sometimes are working but not making electrical contact. You should be asking this question on one of the Monaco Forums.
