The simple truth is when you're on the road you do get taken advantage of when you're in an unknown area. Not always, but this seems to be the simple fact of life. The shop knows they will never see you again or have to worry about word of mouth.
My concern with what you are saying here is you are implying that they charged this customer "more" than their normal charge?
If they did, then yes they took advantage of him.
If that's their regular rate, then "NO", the customer was negligent by not asking the prices when he phoned for the appointment.
I understand his frustration but who really is in the wrong here?
