For almost 10 years, we have slept on couple of a tufted, queen sized, air mattresses (aka. Air Bed) from Walmart.
Tufted means that the mattress has a waffle pattern on top, not the long ribbed tubes like a pool float.
Ours is the 8 inch height, not the 24 inch height. It is powered by a built in air pump that is powered by 4 "D" cell flashlight batteries.
With ours, the 4 batteries give about 6 complete fill ups, so depending on how often you deflate and refill the bed, you may want to use a 12V plug-in pump (there is 12V power in the dash lighter socket and in your TV outlet).
Because we sleep in the cab-over bunk and leave our mattress inflated all the time, we use the batteries to add air as needed. Remember, If the bed is always inflated, you may need to bleed off some air as you to up in altitude. We never popped one, but it sure got HARD.
These air "Beds" usually cost in the $30-$40 range at Walmart.

Hi Tim...I just went online to Walmart and they must have 50 different brands of air beds. Would it be possible for you to send me the brand name you have? Really appreciate it! Marsha
