For those using the Reflectix on the window, are they dual pane? I wondered what the added heat and expanding air between the panes would do to the dual pane window seals.
I've heard of people having problem using reflective type materials on dual pane windows. I put it on our windshield and it's amazing the heat it keeps out. Just afraid to do the rest.
Just curious
we use the reflectix only on the windshield and only if we're facing west or south. we've not done the other windows not because of the concern you express but because it just makes the interior way too dark. - doxiemom11Explorer IIFrom what I have read, the reflectix should not be used on dual pane windows as the extreme heat will cause problems with the window seals. Contributes to the fogging problem that many people have after a few years because seals are ruined.

Just curious - WILDEBILL308Explorer IILots of good advise. This summer when in Phoenix it was 112 in the shade using most of the tricks hear we stayed bearable. The biggest thing was to move to Flagstaff where the hi was 72.:B
Nothing beats elevation in the desert for staying cool.
Bill - ncrowleyExplorer III have an external shield for my windshield and side windows in the front. They really help by keeping the sun out of the coach. I also use the foam inserts in the vents.

Reflective material in windows (inside coach) when sitting (camping), a windshield shade cover (outside) to protect your windshield seals and windshield wipers. Awnings out and air conditioning on by 8 AM. All my tires covered to prevent UV damage. Fantastic fan on to get warm air out before you turn on your air.
When walking my dogs outside you can't walk them on pavement during high heat times. And I keep a coyote shaker on my person when walking my pets in the desert.
Very Good tip about walking pets on hot pavement. Some of the campers from up North just don't really realize how hot the pavement gets in the south.
I've pointed it out to some and when I tell them to put their own hand on the asphalt they are truly shocked on how hot it is.
What is a coyote shaker? - TinstarExplorerAnother fan of Reflectix. I use it on all windows that I don't need to see out while traveling. Basically the windshield, driver and passenger windows aren't covered. Everything else is. Also an insulating curtain behind seats unless you have other passengers.

While driving we turn on all three AC units and pull the shades. Sitting the same way but add window awnings out and front window covered too. I had temp coat put on the roof and it did a great job too. More then just the white fiberglass alone. Mostly white sides with graphics painted darker. My sidewalls were 50 degrees cooler then my buddies dark coach in the afternoon.

When they came out with the full body painted black MH's I wondered how many buyers even thought about what that would do to the temps inside their coaches when traveling in the hot states! - John_S_Explorer IIWhile driving we turn on all three AC units and pull the shades.
