I quizzed one poster a while back about whether he could have kept his rigs in the lane if he had been anticipating the blowout and the response was something like "Absolutely not. That rig was going into the other lane whether I was ready for it or not."
What would you have expected him to say? If you watch any of the videos telling you how to handle a blowout, none of those drivers end up in the other lane or off of the highway. Obviously they were anticipating it so that sort of indicates that a driver can keep things under control and stay in his lane, if he reacts quickly and properly.
I assume any video I ever see of how to control a motorhome with a steer tire blowout will show it going down the road rock steady not deviating even a single inch. Anything that didn't come out like that would have ended up on the cutting room floor. All I know is there are a lot of people killed with blowout and it can't be as simple as have both hands on the steering wheel white knuckle bent over looking straight ahead ready for a blow out. That just ain't life.
this is such a big issue I wonder why some neutral body doesn't get out there and run 20 motorhomes down the road at 60 miles an hour with a charge on the sidewalk and detonate them and see what happens when the people driving the motorhome are not aware that that is the test being done. Kind of like a double-blind thing. Put the drivers in the motorhome and tell them I want you to head down the track with no knowledge of a blowout.
