Blu Ray Player

I have a Mercedes Winnebago Sprint / Itasca Era and it has two HDTV TV's. It comes with a DVD player, but it does not have Blu Ray capability. Most DVD's are Blu Ray these days. What type player should I get; I understand that power supply is an issue. HELP!!!

  • I've gravitated to digital on my laptop and iPad and play on a 22 inch TV via component cables. We also have a built in DVD player for our older collection. I just don't see a need for Blu Ray since most small TVs (at least ours) used in a Class B are only capable of standard 720p digital. To me on a small screen that is way superior to the old analog anyway.
  • DVD's are still available. They are just in a different rack. I don't see the point in Blu-ray anyway.
  • All purpose built "mobile" 12 volt bluray players I have seen are pretty darn spendy, it would be a lot cheaper to buy a "home" 120 volt player and run it off a small inverter (most players should draw well under 100 watts, so it doesn't need to be a big inverter). You can get cheap home bluray players for well under $50 these days, unless you plan to full time and this is your only bluray player, you won't need a fancy expensive one, for occasional bluray playback the sub $50 ones will be plenty good.
  • One thing to remembr, DVDs and Blu-rays are different. Are you looking for a model to run on 12v or 120v? Do you have the proper cabling for a Blu-ray player (HDMI or Component Cables{5 RCA plugs ad wires}).
