Blue ox cable

Always removed mine. Had it since 2004, with no cracking problems.

I agree. Mine cracked until it was unusable, and it spent most of it's life in the storage bay. I did get about 6 years out of it.

I don't have your cable and not coiled either, which probably doesn't help and is it not blue, as well?. You might want to keep it covered up to block out UV radiation. Besides our black leather boot for the tow bars, I also use a black floor mat wrapped around the hitch receiver itself and have fashioned a quick hook at the bottom for securing it, so there's nothing really showing for the sun to eat up.
We never remove anything that's not necessary for doing so. Less time, less hassle and less chance in forgetting to do something.

I thought I saw a post on this. Our cord was purchased new the end of July 2013 with our motor home and is cracked from one end to the other ( blue outer layer). I noticed it two weeks ago while hooking up. I have the receipt and calling them next week.

I made my own cable and the tow setup is covered when stored. For your case, you might try using some good heat shrink over it, which would in effect provide another outer jacket. We don't take anything apart other than necessary and just have a locking pin through the receiver.

Yes, mine was kept in the garage and cracked too. They were not well made. Hope the new one I just bought is better.

I always unplug mine and keep it in the coach along with the safety cables and toad hitch pins.

My Blue Ox cable has been plugged into Motor Home over 8 yrs and have had no problem. Hitch stays in but I always put the cover on it. I just wrap the cable around the hitch and make sure plug is pointed down. Taking hitch and cable off would be the best tho but we usually dont go more than 6 wks without using MH and I keep it at home.
