Nancy.....It needs to be connected to a "keyed" 12 volt source so that every time you turn the coach off and restart, the unit goes back to the original "center" setting. If you can find a fuse box on your coach, you can check the fuses....need a volt meter or test light and see which ones have "NO" power when the key is off. Once you find one, turn the key on and see if it has power. You can then tap into that fuse. Some fuse blocks have blanks where you can add an additional fuse for future equipment.
It's easy to run a wire through the foam. Get a wire coat hangar and straighten it out. Make a small loop on one end and attach the wire you want to run through the foam. Take the other end of the coat hangar and force it through the foam until it comes out the other side. Pull it the rest of the way and you'll have your wire on the end.
