It isn't at all about money for us. It is something called convenience! Having a nice safe place to catch a few zzzs, well lit making it easy to get in and out while its dark, stock up on some items, almost always a minute or two off the main road, and not having to disconnect the toad is what it is all about for us.
You can call it convenience. And I guess it is for some, but it's about saving money for others. Heck, one guy just yelled at me who had a 2010 Silverado for a toad......
