I don't think calling it cheap is the MAIN reason for the disputes about Walmart parking.
Those of us who have been RV'ing for for a long time really appreciated the offer Walmart made YEARS ago for parking at a Walmart store in case an RV'er needed to get off the road due to an emergency, bad weather, etc.
Fast forward and many 'new' RV'ers saw this as a way to avoid paying CG's fees period and started making Walmart a DESTINATION.
The end result of this abuse? Walmarts across the US are starting to ban over night parking.
So it's the case of a few ruining a good thing for all.
I've posted this several times. Walmart is SOO pissed off at RV'ers taking advantage of their 'original' offer that:
When I pulled into a Walmart in the morning outside Brooksville, FL in my MH for the sole purpose of buying GROCERIES I was met with 2 squads upon entering the parking lot with my MH. Waving hands and rudely telling me I can NOT park in Walmart didn't I see the signs NO OVERNIGHT RV PARKING? :R
I told them I was just buying groceries. They did not believe me.
They said then go back home and get your car if that's all you are doing. I told them that I would gladly go back and get my car if they wanted to pay for the gas to drive 3,000 miles to go get it.
I would have never been confronted like this had other RV'ers not abused the offer to park in Walmarts in case of an emergency.
So ya when 'I' read about RV'ers making a camping destination of Walmart, I know that it is them that are making more and more Walmart's completely ban over night parking. Thereby taking away a place that could have been used for an emergency for a person driving a big rig at night that might have the need to get off the road.
