I faced the same problem with my B. For storage inside, use packing cubes from ebags.com. You can store considerable more clothes with the packing cubes. For your cargo carrier, there is a company that makes a cargo carrier that is rated to tow as well. I deleted the bookmarks when i purchased my cargo carrier, but a little work with Google and I am sure you will find it.
