How often or what milage do the brakes need adjusting?

Have calipers/slides cleaned and lubricated. Should prevent a seized caliper at the most inopportune time.
When we had ours done last year, they did a chemical test (for water/impurities etc) and said that the brake fluid was OK. They did find that the brake pads were dried or defective and large pieces were flaking off. Only minimal wear after 30000 miles.
