Thanks for the ideas. I haven't bought one yet, but it seems there are 2 basic types... Lightweight & trail ready. Now i'm wondering if one with a 3" clearance would be adequate for campground gravel roads & well maintained trails.
It seems that a lightweight one that can be disassembled enough so that the base is the heaviest at 50 pounds would be ideal as my wife & i could lift it into the back. However, how would it hold up to the above scenario re trails, etc.
Yes, the Travelscoot is good too. I have a Lexuslite which folds down and fits in my BMW 528i easily. It comes apart in two pieces total weight 28 lbs and the battery is the biggest at 20 lbs. Also IATA approved for airlines and for cruises. I use a Gearspace 34 which can gobble that up easily and handle an assortment of other stuff. The Gearspace has 'landing gear' and plugs into my PW 2inch hitch receiver. I used the scooter for a while after a serious injury but now use it for transpo when on those huge RV Resorts in USA ie Arizona and Palm Springs.
A Shoprider is heavy but is a great unit.
cheers
