Last year the fuel pump went out on the way home. I had the trailer in tow and I was 250 miles from home.
I had the trailer and SUV towed to a mechanic. It was a three-day wait including repairs and parts from Mexico City via bus. The mechanic setup the trailer in the field next to his shop. They invited me for a barbecue and took good care of me. 20 mile tow, parts and repairs came to $170.
Moral of the story, find a place to park, sit back and relax. Had it been longer, I would have put the cat in the carrier and taken the bus home to wait. Better to be in comfortable surroundings instead of hounding the repair shop.
